The "Religion of Petty Thievery" defense

I'll grant you, it's novel.

Terror accused taught to steal in Allah's name, court told

AN accused terrorist was attracted to the alleged leader of a home-grown terror cell because he taught it was permissible to steal and commit fraud under Islam rather than out of any interest in violent jihad, his lawyer said today.

Benjamin Lindner, the lawyer for Bassam Raad, 26, told the jury in Australia's largest terrorist trial that his client liked the idea of committing fraud in the name of Allah and being able to "make a dollar".

Would somebody please tell Bro. Bassam that dollars are haram, and the only halal money is gold?

/Jeeze, do I have do everything around here...
