US may sell 2 early warning aircraft to Egypt; Northrop Grumman to benefit
The Pentagon notified has Congress of a possible sale to Egypt of two E-2C airborne early warning and command aircraft. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency valued the sale at 75 mln usd, and said the sale would ensure "enhanced fleet communications and interoperability." "The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region," it said in a statement. Northrop Grumman Systems Corp in Bethpage, New York would be the prime contractor, it said...

Israel concerned Egypt will smuggle terrorists into Gaza
The government and defense establishment are becoming increasingly concerned over the closer ties Egypt and the Hamas government are forging in the Gaza Strip and over Egypt's turning a blind eye to continued smuggling from Sinai to the Gaza Strip. An Israeli government and defense delegation to Cairo recently protested Egypt's allowing gunmen to enter the Strip from its territory. At the beginning of October Egypt allowed some 85 Hamas militants to enter the Gaza Strip from Sinai after a wait of a few months.
