A Danish national and a man with a residence permit in Denmark are among alleged Islamic militants arrested in northern Lebanon in recent weeks, the Foreign Ministry in Copenhagen said Tuesday.Posted on 28 June 2007 @ 16:30 GMTLebanese troops arrested the two men in late May in the northern port city of Tripoli, said Lars Thuesen, head of the Danish Foreign Ministry's consular department.
It was not clear on what grounds they were being held, Thuesen said, adding that Danish authorities had requested information about the arrests from Lebanon.
Danish authorities also were investigating reports that a third man with Danish ties was arrested Sunday during fights in Tripoli between Lebanese troops and alleged Islamic extremists, Thuesen said.
