Of the 23 suspects held by the police after anti-terror raids on August 10, 11 were charged with terrorism offences today. The remaining 11 remain in custody and under "active investigation". One has been released without charge.Posted on 26 August 2006 @ 20:20 GMTEight of the suspects were charged with conspiracy to commit murder and the preparation of terrorist acts, namely the intention "to smuggle the component parts of improvised explosive devices onto aircraft and assemble and detonate them on board". They are:

Ibrahim Savant, 26, London E17

Umar Islam (aka Brian Young), 28, High Wycombe
Osman Adam Khatib, 20, London E17One suspect, a 17-year-old youth, was charged with possessing articles useful for terrorist purposes under the Terrorism Act 2000. These included a book about improvised explosives devices, suicide notes and wills of co-conspirators and an annotated map of Afghanistan.
Two suspects were charged with failing to disclose information that they knew or believed might be of material assistance about an act of terrorism. They are:
