Syria: Army clashes with Muslim extremists

Syrian forces clashed with a group of Muslim extremists, killing three of them, on the outskirts of Damascus, the official Syrian Arab News Agency reported Sunday.

SANA said the group was planning attacks in Damascus and identified the militants only as "takfiris," a reference to extremists who brand as infidels other Muslims who don't adhere to their views.
