Two Chechens arrested in Dutch director's murder case

MADRID, December 13 (RIA Novosti, Juan Cobo):

Two Chechens living in Spain have been arrested on suspicion of being involved in the killing of famous Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh, Spanish police said Tuesday. Theo van Gogh, a descendant of famed Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh, was shot dead in Amsterdam on November 2, 2004 by Islamic fundamentalist Mohammed Bouyeri two months after the release of his highly controversial movie, Submission, which detailed the physical punishments sanctioned by the Koran for Muslim women.

Raids on homes of suspects in director's murder:

MADRID — Spanish police have raided houses used by two Chechens linked to the murder of the Dutch film director Theo van Gogh. Dutch authorities asked their Spanish counterparts to raid the homes in Madrid, Paterna, near Valencia and Fuengirola, near Malaga. They were homes used by suspects Bislam Achamedovich Ismailov and Kabez Ismailov. Bislam Achamedovich was arrested in France and extradited to Holland to stand trial for for alleged part in the murder. Kabez Ismailov is being held in prison in Peru for different offences. Mohammed Bouyeri, who stabbed the director to death in broad daylight in November last year, has been jailed for life for the murder. Police discovered a large quantity of documentation at the three addresses, which linked them to the Chechen Islamic resistance...
