A Moroccan-born Danish citizen who is being held on allegations of promoting terrorism sent letters to suspects in a larger European terror probe, a prosecutor said Friday.Posted on 03 December 2005 @ 19:07 GMTThe possible links between Said Mansour and members of an alleged terror network being investigated in Bosnia, Denmark, Sweden and Britain emerged during Mansour's custody hearing Friday.
Mansour was arrested Sept. 8 on suspicion of promoting terror by calling for a Jihad, or holy war, against the West in scores of CDs, computer discs and video tapes.
In a closed hearing Friday, a Copenhagen court ordered him detained for another three weeks on those allegations.
He had not previously been linked to the wider terror investigation in which seven people are in jail in Denmark, four in Bosnia and three in Britain. Prosecutor Lone Damsgaard told the court Mansour had sent letters to some of those suspects.
She then requested the rest of the hearing be held behind closed doors.
Authorities in Denmark, Sweden, Bosnia and Britain have been cooperating in an investigation into a suspected terrorist cell that may have been planning a suicide attack in Europe or America, officials have said. A total of 15 people have been arrested in the case.
The probe began on Oct. 19, when police in Bosnia arrested Swedish citizen Mirsad Bektasevic, 19, and Turkish national Cesur Abdulkadir in Sarajevo on suspicion they were preparing a terrorist attack. Neither has been formally charged.
